So, funny story. A few months ago, I posted about a new album I'm working on, and I was super jazzed about those demos and new sounds I was working on.

This is not that album.

Let me explain.

Often, while I'm recording an album, I'll make some tracks just for fun to get out of my own head in the recording process. These can be covers, style pastiches, anything to get my mind off "why does the snare sound like that" or "wait, did I rip off a The Cure song?"

While I was working on those tracks I mentioned earlier, I started getting too into my own head. So, I went for a walk, and listened to some Mac Demarco songs. Those songs always just feel like summer to me, and they put me in a good mood no matter what.

When I got back, I decided to write and record a fun, jangle-pop song. Hooky, pretty short, and with a goofy guitar solo. It came together pretty quickly, and it was a lot of fun to record!

So, I recorded another. And another. And then, since I was on a bit of a roll, I decided to try and write a whole album, just thinking, "What would Mac Demarco, Jonathan Richman, or Kim Deal do?"

Before I knew it, I had 8 songs written and recorded within 4 days. An entire album born out of getting out of my own head. This one's pretty fun, too!

(P.S., the album I was originally recording is still in progress, but it might be coming out in a different form than I originally figured. More info on that to come.)
