This record is the product of many, many, many creative stop and starts. After I finished the last Antilock EP, I kept trying to record a follow-up by myself, but just sort of found myself kinda stunted. I couldn’t really make something I wanted to do that didn’t sound like Pine Street Postcards 2, or It Also Came From Massachusetts. I probably recorded dozens of instrumentals, wrote pages upon pages of songs that might never see the light of day (in their original forms, at least). They all relied upon the same chords, the same distortion, the same hi-hat heavy patterns. And, I’ll admit it, I was a little discouraged. So, I started to experiment more with clean tone guitars, layering tracks and picking patterns, and not trying to make it something I could easily play live. Lyrically, this album is about a few things: Love, and most importantly, hope. Everybody loves something or someone, and you need hope to do anything. Between the last record and this one, I gained a lot more life experience, and I fell in love. In short, I hope you like this record, and there will be more Antilock stuff coming soon. So, live, love, and always have hope.
